Pagtanda

Akala ko wala ng katapusan. Akala ko mananatili akong bata magpakailanman. Pero mali ako. Habang lumilipas ang oras, ang segundo ang minuto, ganon ang edad ko. Mag 48 na nga pala ako sa June. Ang bilis no. Dati bata pa ako. So walang problema. Sana samahan nyo ako sa mga journeys ko sa ...

Remembering Our Departed Loved Ones

Image
November 1. All Saint's Day but in the Philippines it is the day that we go to cemetery and visit and give some prayers to our loved ones who passed away. An occasion that is embedded in our culture and to pay respect and to remember all the memories that we have when our loved ones are still alive. To my Tatay, my Tiyas and Tiyos, Lolos and Lolas- I am offering some prayers to you this day since I am very far away from home.

Not Your Usual Quezon Avenue

Image
Yesterday I was in Manila to remit the annual contribution of my mother to an insurance company for public school teacher. The venue was familiar since when I was in elementary I used to go with my mother there. And it was just in the intersection of Banawe St and Quezon Avenue a few blocks short of the Mabuhay Rotunda commonly known as Welcome Rotunda before. It was easy to get there since I have worked before in Araneta Avenue which is just a few blocks also from where I was yesterday. The building, an old one, with so many people in their old age ( but not yet retirable) occupied the offices and you can see some clutters in the vicinty, a typical of a government agency. However I could observe the less-bureaucracy setting  now than before. I was amazed at how those in their 50's and 60's work withe ease updating to their computer system the data that their customers are giving them. And in a few minutes I was done doing everything and I could go back to Batangas. And I ju...

Convergence

Image
This is not about PLDT's convergence marketing ads way back in the 90's ( I actually remember it hahaha!!) but this is how this coffee shop converged us last Wednesday in one place in one time. I had no intention of going for a cup of coffee but then my cousin Jephren ( my coffee buddy) texted me and if we can go for a drink that night. And I said yes. Then my office mate Harry also is in need of a shot of coffee that night. So we decided we could go together. And along the way I had met Jose, my high school classmate, and I invited him to join us. And so we were four with different backgrounds and ideas converged into two hours of non-stop exchanging of ideas. And it felt good to learn from different individuals who have diverse knowledge since we all came out from different schools and work. And then we have seen on the next table, our other officemates, the C&PR department, doing their usual get-together or somewhat a bonding for the group. A convergence. Imag...

I Quit

Image
And today is Ash Wednesday. Traditionally as a Catholic this is the beginning of the Lenten Season. The start of the day that I quit. We quit. We resign ourselves from the flesh and other worldly things. This is the start of our renewal. I quit being online always. I quit on attending to some negative vibes. I quit on judging others. I quit on my former self. A renewed one. A born again. In Catholic's faith. And speaking of Catholicism, the highest designated leader of our Church surprisingly announced yesterday that he will quit. He will retire come the end of this month. A shocking news? Not so. When health is the issue everyone has the obligation and right to quit. How can you serve of  what is expecting of you when your own muscles and bones and brains do not function well? And the Pope chooses his health over the power of continuing the highest position in Catholic Church. In the end he is still human like us capable of vulnerabilities and susceptible to disease. And we ...

Likes / Dislikes

Image
Thanks to Facebook that this like/dislike button was invented when you feel something is favoring your taste and dislike if you do not want such kind of thing posted on the net. A shortcut to the unsaid thoughts that by merely clicking the famous icons we can express fully what we wanted to say. There are also some people and events and places that simply annoy us. They are for some reason give the uncomfortable feeling inside us that eventually turns into something that is unpleasant. And the bottom-line  we do not want such specific instances. On the brighter side of the coin, there are entities and events that somehow lifted our spirit to a much higher level; a Nirvana. These are some partial likes and dislikes that I can conclude throughout the years of my existence: LIKES 1. The David Lettermen Show - though I seldom watch it since I do not have a cable, but thanks to Youtube. 2. Coffee/Coffee shops - this should be on the No.1 spot? these are not arrange ord...

Last Saturday I have practiced running..and jogging from our house to SM Batangas..I've got a one and a half hour of intensive running and walking..and my thigh and legs ached..a product of non-regular running..I should run/jog beginning last Saturday..and also in preparation for my very first 5 KM fun run spearheaded by Red Cross..Run to save lives campaign! with my cousin JB and my MBA classmate Rosemarie from First Gas..  Got new shoes to encourage me more to run more! with my office-mates, Bryan, Jaybee and Dong.. Basically I knew now how my classmate Blas aka Titanium Runner feels when he runs. Now I can feel how addictive it is. Now I can say that I want more..and maybe next week I should attend the Philhealth marathon..on the second thought I guess I should rest for awhile..and treat my ailing muscles..with Salonpas hahaha!!and omega pain killer..

Menu Of The Day

Image
And our lunch is delighted by a delicious native chicken tinola courtesy of Sonny cooked by Japs.. And a couple of days ago I was the one who buy the chicken ( actually gave the money and Miel bought it) and we had enjoyed the hot delicious soup and the papaya and the whole tinola. And diet was shattered ( only that lunch) and my stomach was so full  I never had the chance to crave for the snack food.
