Health Is Wealth

Image
Last Saturday as we strolled in Lipa we also visited a patient. Patient X for the moment. And I started reflecting on how our health is really our wealth. Put it in reverse way, once you lose your health, you will lose every wealth that you have saved. So as long as you have your good health, start saving for that uncertain future because we can never know when a certain disease will strike us.

I Go Green!

Last Saturday at Lipa City..I had come with my nephews when Andrei took the exam at Dela Salle Lipa for his high school entrance examination. And after that Limuel who is attending his first year high at DLSL toured me to the land of the Green. And coincidentally that day also the UAAP Women's Volleyball Championship Game 1 between the Green and the Blue ( Lasalle vs Ateneo) has been concluded when a sudden comeback from Green Spikers and eventually won the game 1. Hurray to Reyes and Gumabao! Booooo to Cainglet and Valdez!

Araneta Center Is Transforming

Image
Gone are the days of a conservative Araneta Center. It has to transform itself to get even with the emerging shopping and residential destinations in Metro Manila. It has to regain its prominence as the one who started it all.

UP Close and Personal

A visit to the premier university in our country. Diliman campus where urban and rural collides. Where woods and steel are vying for our attentions. Home of the brave and the free ( American anthem huh?!!). Molder of future leaders. A university.

Not Your Usual Quezon Avenue

Image
Yesterday I was in Manila to remit the annual contribution of my mother to an insurance company for public school teacher. The venue was familiar since when I was in elementary I used to go with my mother there. And it was just in the intersection of Banawe St and Quezon Avenue a few blocks short of the Mabuhay Rotunda commonly known as Welcome Rotunda before. It was easy to get there since I have worked before in Araneta Avenue which is just a few blocks also from where I was yesterday. The building, an old one, with so many people in their old age ( but not yet retirable) occupied the offices and you can see some clutters in the vicinty, a typical of a government agency. However I could observe the less-bureaucracy setting  now than before. I was amazed at how those in their 50's and 60's work withe ease updating to their computer system the data that their customers are giving them. And in a few minutes I was done doing everything and I could go back to Batangas. And I ju...

Convergence

Image
This is not about PLDT's convergence marketing ads way back in the 90's ( I actually remember it hahaha!!) but this is how this coffee shop converged us last Wednesday in one place in one time. I had no intention of going for a cup of coffee but then my cousin Jephren ( my coffee buddy) texted me and if we can go for a drink that night. And I said yes. Then my office mate Harry also is in need of a shot of coffee that night. So we decided we could go together. And along the way I had met Jose, my high school classmate, and I invited him to join us. And so we were four with different backgrounds and ideas converged into two hours of non-stop exchanging of ideas. And it felt good to learn from different individuals who have diverse knowledge since we all came out from different schools and work. And then we have seen on the next table, our other officemates, the C&PR department, doing their usual get-together or somewhat a bonding for the group. A convergence. Imag...
