On The Brink Of Catastrophic Events

Let's picture this. The White House has fallen. The US President held hostage together with some other officials. And the world is having the shock and awe once again. Should we call Jack Bauer?

Red Dawn. Olympus Has Fallen. White House Down. Some of the movies about the fall of the world mostly because of Koreans. Timely as it is, should we be worried about this situation? In the latest news, China and the US are forging a temporary cooperation pact to help ease the tension between the divided Korean Peninsula. The two superpowers are teaming up for the purpose of peace setting aside economic interest and military power dominance.

On the local scene, I thought Mr Ruffy Biazon, the Customs Commissioner is good enough to combat the decade ago problem of smuggling. But we are mistaken. With the recent oil smuggling expose we cannot count on him. And some progressive groups are calling not only for his resignation but also for the abolition of the bureau itself.

And down south power outages are still on 6-hour daily routine in Mindanao.  Ralph Recto is still pushing for the linking of Luzon and Visayas grids to solve the brown-outs in the Mindanao region.

Those mentioned above are catastrophic events that may incite more negative scenarios for us. What we can do now is be vigilant and pray that along the way peace will be sought and other problems will be solved.
